Then he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore and later completed a Master’s degree in Thyroid Biochemistry from the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.

He also did his Doctor’s degree in Thyroid Biochemistry from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. During his college years Dr. Velumani also did many part-time jobs life milk vendor, newspaper vending and giving tuitions to support his family financially.
